As its name probably gives away, the Parc Floral de Paris is renowned for its breathtaking flowers. Tucked away within the Vincennes forest, this park is made up of 4 different landscaped areas that offer the city’s most naturally colorful walks.
The Parc Floral de Paris’ 28 ha (69 acres) of flowers, paths and playgrounds also hold another relatively unknown attraction that will surely engrave itself in your mind. If you’re lucky enough to be in Paris during the year’s warmer summer days, make sure to find the park’s Jardin des Papillons or ‘Butterfly Garden’. Located within a specially-designed greenhouse, the garden features an impressive array of plants and flowers, as well as over forty species of butterflies from the Ile-de-France.
Take a moment to close your eyes and listen to the fluttering of their wings. With your eyes open, the experience is even more breathtaking. The garden also gives you the rare chance of watching how the butterflies’ metamorphoses in real time, from hatching to opening.
Unfortunately, the Parc Floral de Paris’ Jardin des Papillons closes during the winter due to the insect’s hibernation.
